Ex- CJI Chandrachud joins NLU as professor

Dr. DY Chandrachud has joined National Law University, Delhi, as a Distinguished Professor. His expertise will contribute to guiding research and mentoring future legal professionals, further solidifying the institution.

DY Chandrachud recently retired in November 2024 after completing his two-year tenure as the 50th Chief Justice of India. NLU Delhi announced the appointment on May 15, 2025, and stated that he will guide advanced legal research through the new Centre for Constitutional Studies.

Who is Dr. D.Y. Chandrachud

D.Y. Chandrachud is a prominent figure in the Indian legal system. He served as the 50th Chief Justice of India, a position he held from November 8, 2022, to November 10, 2024. Before his tenure as CJI, he was a judge of the Supreme Court of India. He is also a distinguished academic, having served as a professor at the National Law University Delhi.
